1) Camel trekking Experience 2/3 hours - Or Horse Rides
The Sahara Desert offers an unforgettable camel ride experience or horse ride, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga. This excursion, which lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours, operates all day long and is perfect for those who are trying this activity for the first time and aim to capture memorable photos. Nevertheless, the evening tour, particularly the sunset viewing, is highly favored.
The camel ride tour starts about 1 and 1.5 hours before sunset from your place of residence or an agreed-upon point, often closer to the dunes, and is considered the starting point of the tours. Delving into the dunes through winding paths facilitates crossing the dunes to reach one of the high points that provide a panoramic viewpoint of the area and a suitable place to take beautiful and souvenir photos. After sunset and spending a fun time in the sand, the return trip to the starting point begins.

This tour is the most popular of all, as it allows tourists to cross the dunes, watch the sunset, and spend the night in a desert camp.
The camel ride tour starts about 1 and 1,5 hours before sunset from your accommodation or an agreed-upon point, often closer to the dunes, which is the starting point of the tours. Delving into the dunes through winding paths facilitates crossing the dunes to reach one of the high points that provide a panoramic viewpoint of the area and a suitable place to take beautiful and souvenir photos after sunset and after spending a fun time in the sand. Your trip continues by heading towards a desert camp.
Upon arrival at the desert camp, you will be welcomed with a cup of hot tea. After that, enjoy a delicious traditional Moroccan dinner, accompanied by the attractive rhythms of Berber music around the campfire. Then, you will have the opportunity to sleep under the clear starry sky, providing a sense of peace and connection with nature that is hard to find anywhere else.
In the early morning, try to wake up early to seize the opportunity to watch the magical sunrise. After a hot shower and a delicious breakfast at the camp, the journey back to town begins by crossing the Erg Chebbi dunes.
This adventure could take several days, possibly up to a week. Each day, you will trek across the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi and the surrounding mountains, covering up to 10 kilometers. During this expedition, you will spend the nights in special tents at the heart of the desert.

My friend and I chose a private driver for 2 day/ 1 night in the Sahara desert from Marrakech. Our driver, Said, was so great. He was very knowledgeable, professional and kind.
This was during Ramadan so our trip may have been different otherwise. Not that we'd know as it was our first time in Morocco. Somethings were closed for Ramadan but I think also it was nice because there were less people around. We still got to see all sites and eat at great food stops. Said, our driver even bought us a box of dates from a village he went to school in. Very thoughtful. We felt safe with him and the car was clean and comfortable.
And yes. The drive was long ( took us 10 hrs each way) but you see so many things and make a few stops ( whatever you want!). It was easy and beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone. Once at the tent, if you don't take the camels to the spot then you get to take the 4×4 car and ride over the dunes. That is what we did and it was so fun. The camp was so cool and the views are what it's all about.
Personally. The one night tour was ideal ( and we were short on time ). This was the perfect trip with a trustworthy company. Thanks Said!!!!!
