Program Itinerary of 9 Days Tour from Tangier to Marrakech
Day 1: Tangier > Tetouan > Chefchaouen (120 KM)
First, welcome to the city of Tangier, the Bride of the North, as some call it. Start your journey by heading south to Chefchaouen, passing through the UNESCO-listed city of Tetouan, known as the White Dove. Where you can notice the rich Andalusian and Moorish influences on its revival, and you will have the opportunity to visit the Royal Palace Square and the Acres Square.
Then, continue south through the Rif mountain range to reach Chefchaouen, the charming “Blue Pearl,” which was founded during the 15th century. You can enjoy wandering through its beautiful and famous blue alleys and the stunning views of the Spanish Mosque.
Day 2: Chefchaouen > Volubilis > Fes (250 KM)
Breakfast. Continue your tour by heading south. After leaving Chefchaouen and the Rif Mountains, head towards the historic city of Fes, the scientific capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. Passing through Volubilis, visit the ancient Roman ruins that were the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Mauritania.
Founded in the third century BC, the Roman Empire made it an important site and dedicated it to magnificent buildings and monuments. It later became, for a short period, the capital of Idris I, the founder of the Idrisid state. He was buried near the archaeological site, which included well-preserved mosaics and archaeological sites.
In the afternoon, head towards the city of Fes, passing through large areas of agricultural land, before arriving at the city of Fes, one of the oldest and most historic Moroccan cities.
Day 3: Guided sightseeing tour of Fez
After breakfast, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Fes with an experienced local guide and discover the rich history of Morocco’s oldest imperial city, founded in the 8th century.
Explore the UNESCO-listed Fes Medina, visit the magnificent Bou Inania Madrasa, admire the impressive Royal Palace gates, and discover Al-Qarawiyyin University, founded in 857 and recognized as the world’s oldest continuously operating university. Wander through the vibrant medieval streets, where skilled artisans create traditional Moroccan pottery, leather goods, copperware, and other authentic handicrafts.
After an unforgettable cultural experience, return to your hotel in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.
Day 4: Fes > Ifrane > Ziz Valley > Sahara desert (470 KM)
After breakfast, continue your journey toward the spectacular Merzouga Sahara Desert, traveling through the scenic Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and snowy winters. Continue to the famous cedar forests of Ifrane, where you can see the playful Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Drive through the breathtaking Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s largest palm oases, and enjoy panoramic views from its most scenic viewpoint. Continue to Erfoud, renowned as Morocco’s fossil capital, before arriving in the golden dunes of Merzouga.
In the late afternoon, experience an unforgettable camel trek across the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch a magical Sahara sunset, capture stunning desert photographs, and arrive at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and a peaceful night beneath a sky filled with millions of stars—an unforgettable highlight of your Morocco desert tour.
Day 5: Explore the Sahara desert area by 4x4 vehicle
Wake up early and head to the nearest dunes to have the opportunity to watch the sunrise, which is considered one of the most beautiful and famous activities in the region. Then, return to camp for breakfast before setting off on an exceptional day to explore the area by 4×4 car.
After breakfast, you will start your adventure from the camp and then head towards the Hassi El Abyad Oasis to learn about the traditional irrigation system adopted. Head towards the city of Khamliya to learn about Gnawa music’s distinctive and rich style. Head towards Bedouin communities to learn about their lifestyle and how they adapt to life, then stop at several panoramic points.
Then, go to one of the restaurants to try Berber pizza, considered the region’s most famous dish. During the afternoon, there will be free time where you can try different activities, such as riding motorcycles, horses, quad bikes, and ATVs.
Day 6: Sahara Desert > Rissani > Erfoud > Todra Gorge > Dades Valley (270 KM)
After breakfast, continue your unforgettable journey from the golden dunes of Merzouga towards the spectacular Dades Valley, following the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is the historic town of Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt region, famous for its authentic traditional market held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, where locals gather to trade spices, dates, handicrafts, and livestock.
Next, travel to Erfoud, Morocco’s renowned fossil capital, where you can visit a local fossil workshop and discover remarkable marine fossils that date back hundreds of millions of years.
Continue through the dramatic Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural wonders, with its towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear river, making it a favorite destination for photographers and nature lovers. Finally, drive through the scenic Dades Valley, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and the iconic “Monkey Fingers” rock formations, before arriving at your charming accommodation for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Dades Valley > Roses Valley > Ouarzazate > Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah > High Atlas mountains > Marrakech ( 330 KM)
After breakfast, begin the final day of your unforgettable Morocco desert tour as you travel from the stunning Dades Valley to the vibrant city of Marrakech. Enjoy the peaceful scenery of the valley before continuing to Kelaat M’Gouna, the famous Rose Capital of Morocco, renowned for its fragrant rose fields and locally made rose products.
Next, visit Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” home to the world-famous Atlas Studios, where many international movies and TV series have been filmed. Continue to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its impressive earthen architecture and rich cinematic history.
In the afternoon, cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest mountain pass in the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views along the way. By early evening, arrive in Marrakech, Morocco’s iconic Red City, where your memorable desert adventure comes to an end.
Day 8: Marrakech sightseeing tour with a local guide
After breakfast, a qualified and highly experienced guide will await you. He will lead you on an exploratory walking tour through the crowded alleys of Marrakesh to explore and learn about the city’s ancient history, which dates back to the 11th century.
The tour will also include a visit to the most important tourist attractions, such as Jemaa el-Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the Bahia Palace. Ben Youssef Madrasa(School).
Finally, wander through the lively alleys to learn about the most important and popular handmade products. During the period in the afternoon, you will have free time to explore other places, such as the Geliz area, the Menara Gardens, and others.
Day 9: Day Trip to Ouzoud waterfulls
Your day trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls starts at 8:00 am from the nearest parking lot to your accommodation (usually the famous Jemaa el Fna Square). Head east on a journey lasting about 3 hours through vast agricultural land and deep into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Around 11 am, you will reach the waterfalls. Ouzoud Waterfalls are among Morocco’s highest and most beautiful waterfalls, with a height of about 110 meters.
After arriving, you will have about 5 hours to enjoy your experience exploring the area surrounding the waterfalls, which is rich in picturesque nature, where trees and green spaces are spread, and there are small villages that offer visitors a traditional Moroccan experience. Visitors can also enjoy walking on nature trails and watching the monkeys in the area.
At 4 pm, the return trip to Marrakech begins via the same road. At 7 pm, you arrive at Jemaa el Fna Square, and the end of our mission.

My friend and I chose a private driver for 2 day/ 1 night in the Sahara desert from Marrakech. Our driver, Said, was so great. He was very knowledgeable, professional and kind.
This was during Ramadan so our trip may have been different otherwise. Not that we'd know as it was our first time in Morocco. Somethings were closed for Ramadan but I think also it was nice because there were less people around. We still got to see all sites and eat at great food stops. Said, our driver even bought us a box of dates from a village he went to school in. Very thoughtful. We felt safe with him and the car was clean and comfortable.
And yes. The drive was long ( took us 10 hrs each way) but you see so many things and make a few stops ( whatever you want!). It was easy and beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone. Once at the tent, if you don't take the camels to the spot then you get to take the 4×4 car and ride over the dunes. That is what we did and it was so fun. The camp was so cool and the views are what it's all about.
Personally. The one night tour was ideal ( and we were short on time ). This was the perfect trip with a trustworthy company. Thanks Said!!!!!
